Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine technique in which the practitioner stimulates specific acupuncture points using very thin needles. These acupuncture needles stimulate the flow of Qi (energy) in channels also known as meridians throughout the body as well as regulate and promote the flow of blood. Acupuncture can be used to treat a wide variety of ailments including musculoskeletal injuries, headaches, arthritis, digestive concerns, back pain, insomnia, abdominal pain, stress, anxiety, and many more. The goal of acupuncture is to not only treat the symptom, but the root cause as well.

Cupping is a natural, alternative therapy that is used to promote blood circulation in the area that cups are placed. Cups are placed on the skin to create suction. This suction may help to smooth the flow of Qi (energy). This may relieve tension of the muscles and improve blood flow as well as promote cell repair.

Tui Na Massage

Tuina massage can help to free the flow of Qi (energy) to promote balance within the body. Tuina massage involves the stimulation of acupuncture points with the practitioners fingers rather than needles and there are many different techniques which may be used to achieve this.

Gua Sha is a natural, alternative therapy intended to address stagnation, reduce inflammation, improve circulation and promote healing. Gua Sha involves scraping of the skin with a massage tool and may be used on the back, neck, arms or legs. Gua sha may also be used on the face to improve skin elasticity. The Gua Sha massage tool is similar to the Graston tool that a lot of physiotherapists and RMT’s use.

Dietary & Lifestyle recommendations

Cosmetic acupuncture

Acupuncture needles cause "micro trauma" in the skin which invigorates the body to repair the area. Needles in the face directly help increase collagen and elastin production. Results to be expected include: reduction in puffiness, improved skin texture, reduction of fine lines, improved complexion, improved elasticity, reduction in recurrence of acne/rosecea, overall this treatment can also help to lift the face.
